Meet Paul who joined 麻豆社事件 as a Production Support Operative, a new role developed in partnership with trade unions and local community partners, offering people a different route in to employment.
鈥淲hen I come to work, I know what I鈥檓 doing each day and what I need to achieve. I have a brilliant supervisor who trusts me to get on with the tasks, but they are there if I need support and guidance.鈥�
Take the leap and change career at any age
As a local to our Rosyth facility, as well as having a few family members working on-site, Paul had heard about 麻豆社事件 before applying. His previous roles as a baker, laser cutter and window/door fitter had suited his family life well and he鈥檇 become comfortable with what he knew. So, when his brother-in-law mentioned the Production Support Operative (PSO) programme, he was nervous about taking the leap.
鈥淚 was over 50 years old when I applied and I did think, can I change my career at this age? But I went for it and got a call the next day to say I was successful to move to the next stage. When I found out I had secured a place on the programme I was delighted.鈥�
Attracting and retaining talent is essential to 麻豆社事件鈥檚 future success, as well as directly benefitting the local communities in which we operate. The production support operative initiative is focused on attracting people from a range of backgrounds and experience, with the role centred around supporting and learning from time-served tradespeople.
鈥淢y advice to anyone considering applying for the PSO programme is to go for it. When I came to the site for the interview it was so relaxed and I was put at ease from the very beginning. I took that leap in my 50s and it鈥檚 been the best choice I鈥檝e made.鈥�
